Mouth of the Weaver Landscape Masterplan

The Mouth of the Weaver Masterplan has been developed in partnership to produce a clear project plan that responds to the characteristics of the area. The challenge for the future is to establish the mechanisms that are needed to achieve the Vision, whilst retaining the necessary flexibility to enable opportunities, especially for funding to be taken as they arise. The Masterplan incorporates a variety of short, medium and long-term project opportunities that will be delivered over a 15 to 20 year period.

Organisations working to improve quality of life and regeneration potential in Halton and north Cheshire have come together to form a Steering Group to drive forward positive change in the area known as the Mouth of the Weaver.

An integrated network of greenspaces and development opportunities will be created that:

  • Celebrates the drama and distinctiveness of the area;
  • Establishes striking economic gateways;
  • Enhances connections between communities, economic centres, land and water;
  • Creates an excellent landscape framework that improves the image of the area and encourages economic regeneration;
  • Builds on the existing landscape, cultural and ecological value of the area; and
  • Brings derelict and underused land back into public use and adds value to nearby initiatives such as Frodsham Market Town Initiative, the Weaver Valley Regional Park, and the regeneration of Halton.

The Mouth of the Weaver Steering Group is looking to secure the skills, knowledge and enthusiasm of partner organisations to drive forward the implementation of the Mouth of the Weaver Landscape Masterplan. We wish to work with the public, private and voluntary sectors to turn this important vision into reality to deliver integrated social, economic and environmental benefits.
